Résumé

Un spécimen de Catasetum, collecté en 2014 dans l’état du Rondônia, au Brésil, avait été, à tort, attribué à l’époque à Catasetum spitzii. Une révision de ce matériel a permis de ré-évaluer cette identification et de constater qu’il s’agit en réalité d’une espèce différente, qui est ici décrite sous le nom de Catasetum desouzae. L’article propose une description morphologique détaillée du taxon, accompagnée d’une planche de dessins analytiques et d’une photographie de la fleur. Une comparaison minutieuse avec Catasetum spitzii et une discussion sur la possibilité d’une hybridation naturelle entre cette espèce et Catasetum galeritum sont proposées.

Abstract

A specimen of Catasetum, gathered in 2014 in Brazil, State of Rondônia, was at that time mistakenly identified as Catasetum spitzii. While revising this material, the senior author came to the conclusion that this identification was erroneous and that the plant represented a new species, described here as Catasetum desouzae. A detailed morphological description is given, together with a plate of analytical drawings and a photograph of the flower. A thorough comparison with Catasetum spitzii as well as a discussion on the possibility of a natural crossing between this species and Catasetum galeritum are provided.
